Preity Zinta Biography :
Preity Zinta born on January 31st, 1975 in Rohru in Shimla, the capital city of Himachal Pradesh is an outstanding Bollywood actress who has won several awards for her best performances in many blockbuster movies. She also won millions of hearts with her stunning acting abilities and rightly won the "Queen of Hearts Award" in 2003.
Born to an Indian Army officer, Durganand Zinta and mother Nilprabha, Preity Zinta graduated in criminal psychology from St. Bedes College. In 1988, Preity Zinta lost her father in a car accident while her mother suffered severe multiple fractures in the accident and got hospitalized for two long years. She herself was twice lucky in escaping from the jaws of death. In late 2004, she had a narrow escape when a bomb exploded at a concert in Colombo and the second time from the dreaded Tsunami.
Soon after her graduation, Preity Zinta began modeling and appeared in several commercial endorsements including the famous Liril soap campaign. Thanks to Shekhar Kapur, she soon began her movie career in Bollywood.
It was Shekhar Kapur, the leading film-director recommended her to Mani Ratnam, who in turn cast her in his movie, "Dil Se" in 1998. She won Filmfare Best Debut Award for her brilliant performance in the movie. Her other award winning movies include, "Soldier" {!998}, "Kal Ho Naa Ho" {2003}, "Koi... Mil Gaya" {2003} and "Jodi No. 1" {2005}.
Ever since her debut, the dimple-chinned actress showcased her wonderful acting abilities in various roles she donned in movies. She excelled in a villainous role in "Armaan" {2003} and won critical acclaim for her performance. As a teenaged single mother in "Kya Kehna" {2000} was well received by the audiences. In "Chori Chori Chupke Chupke" {2001} she lived the role of a woman with loose moral values and won applause from the critics. She virtually showcased her intense acting abilities in "Dil Chahta Hai" {2001}, "Dil Hai Tumhaara" {2002}, "Veer-Zaara" {2004}, and "Salaam Namaste" {2005} and many other blockbuster movies. Her English movie, "Last Year" starring opposite Amitabh Bachchan is all set to release in 2007.
Today Preity Zinta is bracketed in the league of top actors and actresses in Bollywood. Besides acting, Preity is also writing columns for BBC South Asia.
The dimple-faced actress is romantically involved for the last two years with Ness Wadia, the heir of Bombay Dyeing. She was also reportedly involved in a feud with singer-cum-actress Suchitra Krishnamurthy, who accused Preity Zinta of snatching her husband Shekhar Kapur from her and being the cause of divorce between them. Preity Zinta denies all the rumors and accuses the media of playing it to the gallery and even requested Shekhar Kapur to step in and clear the air of controversy. But then the controversy slowly died a natural death.
Preity Zinta is is currently the most beautiful amongst all the Bollywood actresses in India. With numerous big hits to her credit she will always be remembered as probably the cutest actress to have ever graced the Indian cinema.
