Aishwarya Rai Biography
Aishwarya Rai the acclaimed Bollywood actress has come a long way since winning the Miss World crown in 1994. Her amazing acting talents blended beautifully into her sublime beauty have made her an iconic actress in Bollywood.
Aishwarya Rai who won Ford Supermodel contest at the age of seventeen is no stranger to modeling. She modeled for Camilin pencils while in her 9th grade itself and continued modeling part time while pursuing her architectural studies in college. Aishwarya however left college midway as her modeling assignments multiplied greatly. Within no time Aishwarya became one of the top models in India with several high profile commercial campaigns to her credit. Her modeling portfolio includes Palmolive, Lux, Lakme, Colgate, Sheetal Diva, Prudent, Casio, Philips, Rupa Softline, L'Oreal, Longies, Coke, Nakshatra Diamonds, Fuji and Pepsi.
Soon after completing her class XII, Aishwarya entered the Miss India beauty contest in 1994 securing runner-up position. She later participated in the Miss World contest in Sun City in 1994 and was crowned the Miss World. Soon after winning the Miss World title, Aishwarya Rai was flooded with movie offers from Bollywood and down south.
Beginning with Mani Ratnam-directed Tamil film "Iruvar" in 1997, Aishwarya Rai began her acting career. Her Bollywood debut did not take off on a grand note as her first film "Aur Pyaar Ho Gaya" {1997} opposite Bobby Deol flopped at the box office. Her next film "Jeans" {1998} directed by S Shankar became one of the biggest blockbuster hits in the South. Her performance in the dual role won her the first South Indian Filmfare Award. Aishwarya has since been giving amazing performances in movies, winning multiple honors, accolades and awards. This hot Bollywood actress has won two Filmfare awards for "Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam" {1999} starring Salman Khan, who happens to be her first love and "Devdas" {2002} starring opposite Shahrukh Khan. Both the films, incidentally directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, became blockbuster hits.
Her other movies such as "Taal" {1999}, "Hamara Dil Aapke Paas Hai" {2000}, "Mohabbatein" {2000}, "Raincoat" {2004}, "Dhoom 2" {2006}, "Guru" {2007}, which became blockbuster hits all stand testimony to her amazing acting prowess. Her seven-minute song sequence 'Kajra Re' in "Bunty aur Babli" {2005} for which she danced along with her husband Abhishek Bachchan and father-in-law Amitabh Bachchan has become wildly popular with the masses including the fans of these three superstars. It was during the shooting of this song that sparks of love flew between Aishwarya and Abhishek Bachchan.
Her awesome performances in English films like "Bride & Prejudice" {2003}, "Mistress of Spices" {2005} and "The Last Legion" {2007} have been critically appreciated by overseas fans and critics.
